CRUFAOCI holds its General Assembly in Libreville at UIL

From 27 to 29 September 2022, the Conference of Rectors of Francophone Universities in Africa and the Indian Ocean (CRUFAOCI) held its General Assembly at Université Internationale de Libreville (UIL), Gabon, under the theme “The impact of COVID-19 on the operation of CRUFAOCI member universities from 2019 to the present: digital technology at the heart of the debate”.

Around fifty rectors, presidents and directors of higher-education and research institutions took part in the meeting. It laid the foundations for renewing CRUFAOCI, considered its attractiveness and adopted a new action plan.

The interim Secretary General of CAMES, who was also interim Permanent Secretary of CRUFAOCI, used the occasion to present several resolutions from the 39th ordinary session of the CAMES Council of Ministers, held in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, from 23 to 27 May 2022, including:

• the new guide for evaluating teacher-researchers and researchers, 2024–2028
• the directive on quality assurance and accreditation in the CAMES area
• the new CAMES code of ethics and professional conduct
• the CAMES International Order of Merit
• the resolution on permanent approval of teacher-researchers and researchers from the diaspora

“This exercise allowed us to share the substance of these Council of Ministers decisions with CRUFAOCI members so that they could be better understood and applied in practice. We can thus help disseminate them usefully in your respective universities through CRUFAOCI,” said interim Secretary General Prof. Abou NAPON.

The CAMES Communications Officer also presented the institution’s website (http://www.lecames.org) and invited participants to consult it regularly for its publications and news.

At the end of the meeting on 29 September 2022, the CRUFAOCI President and her delegation laid a wreath at the tomb of the late CAMES Secretary General, Prof. Bertrand MBATCHI, to pay tribute to him one year after his death.
