Strategic priorities

7 priorities, one framework

Each priority reproduces the title and general orientation text published by the University. The visual markers aid reading; they do not represent quantified targets or progress reporting.

    Improving governance

    The institutional arrangements required for good governance aim to give the University greater autonomy in decision-making and management. They concern the organization of the institution, the operation of governing bodies, academic management, financial and human resources, evaluation, quality assurance, leadership, ethics, social responsibility and the internationalization of higher education.

  2. Published priority · Priority 02

    Recruitment, retention and student experience

    A new institutional recruitment strategy will be developed to increase student numbers. UIL-BJ seeks to stand out through a welcoming and accessible environment, the quality of its campus infrastructure and academic excellence. Experiential learning activities, learning-support programs and measures for a dynamic student life will complement the study programs.

    Strengthening excellence in education, research and entrepreneurship

    UIL-BJ will strengthen its efforts to promote the quality of teaching and research by supporting its teaching staff. It will consolidate its research directions and interdisciplinary strategic sectors and encourage innovation at every level.

    Developing strategic partnerships and projects

    UIL-BJ will build on its proximity to the Nkok Special Economic Zone and its links with various national structures. It will establish relationships with the communities concerned and support their development through research, innovation and knowledge transfer, particularly in education, community development, management, biomedical sciences, agronomy, culture and technological sciences.

    Increasing the institution’s visibility through communication

    UIL-BJ will strengthen the promotion of the achievements of its teachers and students, its centres and laboratories, and its services to the community. It will deploy the efforts and resources needed to strengthen the institution’s reputation and influence by highlighting its achievements and documented results.

    Developing digital heritage

    Digital heritage encompasses written documents, images, tables and other artistic and architectural contributions that can be digitized. UIL-BJ will increase its use of digital tools in education, research, communication and management. Digitizing all processes will also help control operating costs.

    Strengthening the quality approach across all UIL-BJ processes

    To guarantee the quality of its services for all stakeholders — students, teachers, administrative staff, shareholders and others — UIL-BJ has adopted quality assurance. This commitment supports reliable services through validated procedures that comply with good-practice rules and are subject to controls.
