On 12 March 2020, the President of the Republic decided to close all French higher-education institutions from Monday, 16 March 2020 until further notice.
On 14 March 2020, following the move to level 3 of the epidemic-response plan and until further notice, the Prime Minister decided to close all venues open to the public that were not essential to the country’s life. Pharmacies, food shops, service stations, banks, tobacconists and essential public services remained open.
Since 11 March, the government had introduced a territorialised deconfinement plan. Its purpose was to balance the need to resume economic activity with the need to protect the health of Gabon’s people.

- Wash your hands very regularly or use hand sanitiser
- Cough or sneeze into your elbow or a tissue
- Use single-use tissues
- Avoid touching your face
- Greet people without shaking hands and stop embracing
- Wear a mask when travelling (recommended)
- Keep a social distance of 1 to 2 metres
