Following the opening of the academic year at the School of Medicine and Pharmacy, Université Internationale de Libreville Berthe & Jean (UIL) continued its series of academic openings on 27 October 2025. This second day concerned the Schools of Law, Polytechnic Engineering, Biotechnology and Management, in an atmosphere combining rigour, ambition and enthusiasm.
At the heart of this academic year was a clear vision: a University that trains tomorrow’s leaders through professional programmes grounded in the realities of the modern world.
Faculty of Law and Political Science (FDSP)
Students were invited to reflect on the ethical use of artificial intelligence in their work, recalling that intellectual rigour and academic integrity are core UIL-BJ values. Teachers also stressed student autonomy, personal responsibility and recognition of the efforts made by parents and the State to provide a privileged learning environment.
FDSP offers Licence, Master’s and Doctorate qualifications in the following fields:
- Private law
- Public law
- Business law
- International law
- Political science
These programmes lead to careers such as lawyer, magistrate, notary, diplomat, business-law consultant or NGO programme officer.
École Polytechnique de Libreville (EPL)
EPL focused on understanding how the University works, including calculating averages and managing teaching units. Professor Thierry Blanchard EKOGO, the school’s Director General, strongly recalled that attendance remains a fundamental value and that he would personally ensure it was respected, including through new disciplinary measures if necessary.
EPL offers programmes ranging from the DUT to engineering qualifications in:
- Electrical engineering and industrial computing
- Industrial maintenance and automation
- Multimedia, Internet, networks and telecommunications
Graduates can work as senior technicians, industrial-systems engineers, web and mobile developers or network administrators.
Institut de Recherches Biomédicales et Biotechnologies Carles KAMBANGOYE (IRBK)
IRBK’s academic year began with an introductory General Chemistry class taught by Dr G. J. ELLA NDONG, in an atmosphere of attention and scientific curiosity. The direction was clear: rigour, research and innovation would guide the academic year.
The institute prepares students for Licence, Master’s and Doctorate qualifications, with specialisations in:
- Medical biotechnology
- Microbiology and immunology
- Genetics and molecular biology
- Bioinformatics
- Bioproduction and pharmaceutical quality
Career opportunities include researcher, biostatistician, bioproduction engineer, laboratory technician and quality manager in the pharmaceutical industry.
Institut Supérieur de Gestion, d’Économie et d’Administration (ISGEA)
The ISGEA campus also welcomed many students in a dynamic and motivating atmosphere. The institute offers Licence, Master’s and Executive MBA qualifications in:
- Business administration and management
- Finance and accounting
- Marketing and communication
- Human resources
- Logistics and supply chain
- Entrepreneurship
- Audit and management control
These pathways lead to roles such as chief financial officer, management controller, marketing manager, management consultant or entrepreneur. The leadership also announced the forthcoming opening of École Supérieure d’Administration (ESA), a major UIL-BJ project whose official launch will be marked by a special inaugural event.
École Supérieure des Sciences Agronomiques (ESA)
Although its official academic year opening was still to come, ESA was preparing to welcome its first students to Licence and Master’s programmes in general agronomy, agroecology, crop production, crop protection and natural-resource management. Graduates are expected to become agricultural engineers, farm-production managers, researchers or agri-business consultants.
École de Médecine et de Pharmacie (EMP)
The first school to open its academic year, EMP offers two prestigious pathways: the Doctorate in Medicine and the Doctorate in Pharmacy, training tomorrow’s doctors, pharmacists and researchers. With high-quality supervision and modern facilities, EMP illustrates UIL-BJ’s commitment to contributing actively to the development of the national health system.
True to its openness, Université Internationale de Libreville Berthe & Jean places particular emphasis on:
