UIL-BJ is conceived as a place for study, research and university life. Education is not limited to attending classes: it is also built through exchange, reading, academic work, scientific curiosity and participation in community life.

Each academic unit contributes to this shared framework, while respecting the pathways and requirements specific to each programme.

To students

Succeeding through attendance and hard work

University success is prepared over time. It requires taking part in teaching, working regularly, making use of educational resources and gradually building the skills expected in one’s pathway.

To new enrollees and to students already engaged in their studies, I would emphasise that attendance, personal organisation and perseverance give concrete meaning to the opportunities offered by the University. The academic regulations and the information provided by each academic unit set out the applicable rules.

Preparing for what comes next

Building a personal and professional project

A university pathway benefits from being guided by a project. Orientation, internships when they are part of a programme, research, further study and professional integration are all dimensions to consider seriously.

Entrepreneurship can also support student initiatives when an officially offered framework and support make this possible. Teaching teams and the relevant services can help each person clarify their choices; they do not replace the student’s personal commitment.

Campus life is nourished by meetings, collective projects, conferences, scientific days and activities actually announced by the University. It invites everyone to take part in the community with respect, responsibility and initiative.

Relations with the socio-economic environment and university cooperation can enrich pathways when they have been established and published by UIL-BJ. They must be distinguished from projects in preparation and long-term ambitions.

I recognise the role of teachers, teacher-researchers, academic leaders, administrative staff and support services. Their work contributes directly to the quality of programmes and to the attention given to students.

To families and partners, I also wish to express the value of the dialogue and trust that make coherent support for university pathways possible.
